NO LIMITS IS HONORED IN CULVER CITY!
November 2006
It was a beautiful night at the City Council in Culver City where the Mayor and his Council honored No Limits with the 2006 Distinction Award by the Culver City Disability Committee.
Eleven of the No Limits children joined in the photo op with the Mayor. The children were greeted with an echoing round of applause as they approached the podium. It was wonderful to see the spark in the children’s eyes as the Mayor spoke about No Limits.
Michelle Christie-Adams made a speech to thank the Culver City Disability Committee and its members and recounted a story about a little boy who when he first started at No Limits had very little spoken language. His mom would say that he would always play in the sandbox at school alone. One day his mother came rushing into Michelle’s office crying. Michelle asked her what was the matter. She said today when she went to pick up her little boy at school, he was playing in the sand box alone as usual. But today was different. He went up to the other kids in the sandbox and asked if they wanted to play with him. They said “yes”. Her little boy jumped up and hugged them tightly. It was the first time she had seen her son speak for himself and do so with such confidence.
No Limits other recent honors include:
2005 George Washington Medal of Honor by the Freedom’s Foundation. Other recipients include astronaut John Glenn and Judge Rehnquist.
“Top 100 Heroes” in the country in 2005 by Volvo For Life Committee.
“Best Arts Program in the Country” by Parents Magazine.
No Limits received “Service to Mankind Award” by Sertoma Organization.
